GRAPHICS

I enjoyed my exploratory week in Graphics. I found that it was a lot about text and how text can be used to create different feelings of the word and what it means. I also enjoyed making my own text and using photoshop to emerge my backgrounds and text together.
ILLUSTRATION

Illustration is the area I would like to go into in my specialist area. In this area I have been shown how I can draw using different techniques and styles which I wouldn't normally do e.g drawing with my left hand, drawing with my eyes closed and drawing without looking at my paper and just looking at the object. I found this the most interesting to me and I didn't think at the start o this that I had a personal drawing style but I now belive I can illustrate more confidently and hope to get onto my specialism and improve my drawing skills further and overall work.
FINE ART

Life drawing has also been one of my favourite things I have done so far. I think that the teachers who have tought me have shown me a different side to life drawing as I feel confident when doing it, whereas I didn't when I first started. I enjoy working with different medias and finding out how I can create different styles of drawing using colour and other materials.
APPLIED ART

Applied art is the subject which I studdied last year in National Extended Diploma at Chesterfield College. I enjoy appliedd art but this year I fancy a change. I enjoyed this week in metal work, making the box in using different techniques.
PHOTOGRAPHY

Photography was one of the subjects I was really not looking forward too, but I was pleasantly surprised when I started to enjoy the week of the subject. We took photos around town and we had to capture images which were almost like telling a story or showing something interesting. I found old books, people in couples and a large person ordering some cakes which captured the moment. Using photoshop is not something that appeals to me but when edditing photographs I found it usefull and educating.
Textiles was another subject area which I enjoyed doing. We did a lot of drawing and then had to produce 2 strips of textile designs. I chose a range of objects of shells, a watering can and materials. I started by sketching them out and eventually after layers and layers of drawing, painting and mono printing I ended up with these 3 strips of designs. I think that this would look good in a bathroom with the shells and sea theme. It could be used in shower curtains, wallpaper, towels or blinds.
FASHION

3D Design

Stefan Schulze is a talented 3D designer from Germany. He provides different 3D services. His collection abounds in a great deal of photo realistic concept vehicles and stylish 3D cars.
I was experimenting with different shapes and finding ways to create a stable object.
I continued drawing the object but used ink and graphite with fine liner pen to create a different drawing.
5 minute drawing in ink and graphite.
More observational drawing...
The shape lead me to think about a watch strap and then I looked at how links could be made and the faces of a watch. Using machettes I built up some shapes to create the link design.

FINE ART
In fine art I found it was interesting and there's a lot of theory behind some of the work in this area. We learnt about metaphors and how metaphors and meanings can be hidden within an image as a painting or drawing or whatever the image is. I enjoyed fine art and we were working on a much larger scale than normally which seemed daunting at first but I got into it and made some interesting images.

Using folds with simple shapes.
I made sketches using ink in bold lines from an object which was a link of some sort. We were given random objeccts so we would look in depth at the shapes without knowing what the shape was it made me concentrate more and look in more depth.
I continued drawing the object but used ink and graphite with fine liner pen to create a different drawing.
